I often play outside home, and on some networks I constantly get "reconnecting". Is there anything special that this site requires?
yes, websockets. Some proxies block them, some browsers don't support them.
I reset my host file and it stopped showing ''Reconnecting''.
Make a backup of your current Hosts file, and then reset it. Using this help link:
