So I read that 30+20 is one of the best time controls for beginners like me, but I clicked on 30+20 and after waiting for about 5 minutes I still haven't gotten a game :( How can I fix this
Either better internet or better patience.
Ok, I'll just wait a bit more I guess
I'll play a classical game Vs you if you want, after I finish mine
15+10 has a fairly large pool and it is still acceptable for beginners, at least according to John Bartholomew.
yes. as a KotH player, i hate small pools :(
Aim 15/10.
If you struggle that time control , play against 30/20 vs 1/1 time odds on bots. You can play two games in 90 minutes instead of one.
When I was a beginner, I played unlimited time odds and multiple take back against chessmaster engine personalities.

I think 15 + 10 is fine for anyone looking to improve.
For longer time controls I think people tend to prefer playing over the board. This is especially true for titled players and higher as they play (or at one point played) longer over the board tournaments anyways, so internet chess is usually less serious for such players.
