It's not winter in the South Hemisphere...

Just a minor but important complaint... it is not winter here in Brazil and in all the countries that are in the South Hemisphere... so "Winter Marathon" doesn't make much sense to us in December, a month hot as the sun itself. And it looks a bit disrespectful to those countries, I might say. Well, not actually disrespectful, but it is definetely not a nice thing, at least.

Remember, our planet Earth has two hemispheres. In the south, December means summer. And yes, there are people here, nations, life and blah blah blah.

Thanks for the attention :D
Thibault:
- December Marathon
-End of the Year Marathon
-Christmas Marathon
-Lack of sleep Marathon ? (lol)

I don't know, but yep i live in New caledonia and since i don't took the winter marathon as an insult, he is right on the point that it's not winter everywhere.

That said, happy new years and merry christmas to whome will read me!
Nothing can be done about this.... it had crossed my mind though - 26C here in South Africa, so I'm amused
Of course something easy can be done: changing the title with an explanation, MCoombes314 (#4)
I'm also from the southern hemisphere and it's really hot these days. Nonetheless, I don't take it as an insult. That being said, maybe another name would be more appropriate.

Maybe you could honor someone/something with the "X Marathon" name, as you already do with the user created tournaments and simuls. If that doesn't work you can always just call it "Blitz Marathon" or whatever time control it uses.

Happy holidays :)
Yes mate_amargo, now I think that the season of the marathon is its time control.
I suggest that we wait, soon we will have no winters nowhere

Or perhaps u can use the old french republican calendar :

Vendémiaire, Brumaire, Frimaire, Nivôse, Pluviôse, Ventôse, Germinal, Floréal, Prairial ,Messidor, Thermidor, Fructidor
People are getting crazy about trivial stuff. So what if you don't have winter in December? Do you know that 'december' means '10th month', but in fact it is 12th month? Why don't you object to that? IMO it would only add intrigue if you participated in a Winter marathon when you have hot sun outside. This is kinda exotic.
#9 you are missing the point. Everyone (at least when communicating with the rest of the world) uses the roman calendar, so everybody has a "december". What #1 meant is that it is inconsiderate, because is not winter for the other half of the world. So it's like some people are not taken into account. No one's "getting crazy", just paying attention to little details. I don't think it's exotic either, maybe just cool (no pun intended :P )
