Opening book in correspondence

A player had the decency to acknowledge they are using an opening book in casual play. Why is this allowed? I don't understand. Casual play should be for when folks want to try new things. Using a book is more like study. I move to disallow using an opening book in casual. Casual play should still be play, not copying from an opening book. Does anyone agree?
Opening book is always allowed in correspondence accord to FIDE rules. The fact that this is a casual game does not matter at all
Wow, so I am the only one playing clean chess in correspondence? How many folks use an opening book?
Correspondance chess uses engines and opening books. Both are allowed. If you don't like that then play standard play where opening books and engines aren't
The use of chess engines is prohibited, even in correspondence play. Opening books only are allowed.
As far as a book goes. With ECO it can be many moves. I have played correspondence from the days when it was truly postal, and the point is to play out a book line, and then take it from there. I do not agree that it is okay to use computers or engines, but opening book is part of the tradition. Often both players are working from the same book, choosing their favorite line. lichess does not allow computers in correspondence, although some sites do permit it.
You are allowed to use computers in chessdotcom as long as you don't get caught, but not on lichess.
